Rogers Park
Once a meeting point for Native American tribes, Rogers Park is now Chicago's northern most lakeshore neighborhood. And, it happens to be one of its most culturally diverse, with over 80 languages spoken by its residents. As growth has moved north from the city, development has increased throughout the neighborhood. In fact, over the past decade, an average of 100 building projects has been completed each year. With the boom, new  businesses and retailers move to the area,  increasing its value.

Housing options are as varying as the population, from Victorian homes to cozy bungalows. A number of apartment buildings have undergone conversions into modern condos. And, Rogers Park offers what no other neighborhood can: unobstructed access to Lake Michigan, so that many of the new two- or three-flats and mid-rises are being constructed right on the lakefront.

An array of small, specialty theaters, eclectic shops, and ethnic restaurants reflects the myriad of cultural influences found throughout the neighborhood. Indian restaurants sit down the street from Italian establishments. Cozy cafes boast delicious Thai cuisine, while family-owned Mexican restaurants serve authentic fare. Small shops promise antiques, books, art, and international treasures, while local theater groups perform everything from Improv to well-known plays.

With eight public beaches, locals, including young families and students from Loyola's Lake Shore campus, pack the area in the summer. And, for those who need to venture out, Rogers Park is quite close to both Uptown and Lakeview and just a 20-25 minute ride into the city via the Red Line or CTA buses.
