Montclare is a neighborhood located nine miles northwest of Chicago's loop. Both Montclare and its neighbor, Galewood, were once home to a sizeable amount of Chicago's mobsters during the prohibition era. Today the neighborhood is more known for its family friendly environment and quiet, residential tree-lined streets. Many refer to it as the "suburb within the city." Safety is one of the community's number one priorities, with several speed bumps and traffic circles designated to safeguard its residents.

Montclare resides between Belmont and Harlem Avenues withthe Soo Line railroad to the west. Residents in this tight-knit community rarely leave, so houses don't usually go up for sale very often. Be that as it may, architecturally speaking, the community is sprinkled with Victorian, Georgian and Tudor homes, many of which are moderately priced between $250,000 and $350,000. Many rentals are also available in the area, which rent in the $1,100 range.

The Brickyard Shopping Center provides many shopping options for area residents as well as people in the surrounding areas. Mars Candies and Radio Flyer operate out of Montclare and the Shriners Children's Hospital is also nearby. Schools in the area include Sayre Language Academy, Concordia University, Triton College, Dominican University and Wright Junior College.
