Greektown is a neighborhood in the Near West Side of the American city of Chicago, Illinois.

Greektown within the Chicago area known as the West Loop and is made up mostly of bars and restaurants located roughly between Van Buren and Madison Streets, along Halsted  Street and just west of the Loop. Establishments such as Santorini, Costas, and Parthenon serve traditional Greek fare, which caters to both those familiar with the cuisine and people new to the exotic flavors. Most of the areas bussinesses are decorated to reflect the art and architecture that is exclusive to anchient Greek culture. As the name suggests, the area has a large Greek American population. The cultural influence can also be seen in its culutral center as well as the annual parade to celebrate it's roots. It is just one of many small neighborhoods that make up the Near West Side community area, and is popular with tourists and Chicago residents alike.


Greektown is filled with new construction midrise condominiums and older warehouses that have been converted into sleek and modern loft spaces. Being that that the neighborhood is close to UIC, it is also filled with rentals, which appeal to the neighborhoods many students.

Greektown is easily accessible via public transportation by riding the Chicago Transit Authority's Blue Line to the UIC-Halsted station.
