Chatham, located on the south side, is bordered by 75th Street, Cottage Grove Avenue, 87th Street and the Dan Ryan Expressway. Chatam includes the neighborhoods of Chatham and West Chesterfield. Its residents orignally hailed from Hungary, but the area continues to grow increasingly diverse.
The community takes great pride in its surroundings keeping the single-family homes, two and three bedroom apartment buildings, and newer commericial developments in pristine condition. Many areas within the neighborhood are being redeveloped and refurbished. Buyers are attracted to the area do to its excellent schools such as the McDade Magnet School, low crime rates, and moderate home prices.
The area is known for its lively Steppin' clubs such as the 50 Yard Line, which is owned by former Chicago Bear Jimmy Jones.
