Ashburn is residential, blue collar, and family friendly community located nine miles southwest of Chicago's Loop, which is named for the fact that Chicagoans once used it as a place to dump their furnace's ashes. Though the community was extremely slow to grow at first, railroads and the post war boom during the 1950s brought many new residents to this area, many of which still reside there today.

Ashburn was originally settled by Irish immigrants and this tradition is still refelcted in many of the neighborhood's current bussinesses and picturesque and stoic Irish-Catholic churches that enrich the landscape.
